Trilateral maritime exercise SITMEX-25 to boost Indo-Pacific security

Port Blair Nov 22: In a powerful show of regional unity and shared resolve for a secure Indo-Pacific, the navies of India, Singapore and Thailand are gearing up for SITMEX-25, a week-long trilateral maritime exercise designed to deepen cooperation and sharpen joint operational readiness.

The Indian Navy, Republic of Singapore Navy and Royal Thai Navy will take part in the 2025 edition of the trilateral maritime exercise SITMEX, scheduled from November 23 to 29, 2025. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability, strengthen joint response capabilities and reinforce the collective commitment of the three nations to maritime security in the Indo-Pacific.

SITMEX-25 will begin with an Opening Ceremony at Changi Naval Base, Singapore, from November 23 to 25. During the harbour phase, participating personnel will engage in cross-deck visits, professional interactions and friendly sporting events—activities intended to build stronger operational understanding and deeper camaraderie among the crews.

The Sea Phase, set from November 26 to 29 along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), will feature advanced manoeuvres, coordinated tactical drills and joint operational engagements. These exercises will enable the three navies to refine their combined maritime capabilities and demonstrate a united approach to ensuring safety, stability and freedom of navigation.

SITMEX-25 will conclude on November 29 with a closing ceremony onboard RSS Dauntless at Phuket, Thailand, marking the culmination of a week of intensive drills and collaborative learning. The event will highlight the enhanced maritime synergy and strengthened bonds forged across the exercise.

Underscoring a shared vision for a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific, SITMEX-25 reaffirms the enduring partnership between India, Singapore and Thailand, reflecting their continued commitment to safeguarding common maritime interests and contributing to regional peace and stability.
