New Delhi, September 24, 2025: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired the 49th meeting of PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) at South Block on Wednesday. The ICT-enabled multi-modal platform brings together the Centre and States to fast-track major projects, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure time-bound delivery.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed eight critical infrastructure projects across sectors including Mines, Railways, Water Resources, Industrial Corridors, and Power. These projects span 15 States and Union Territories, with a cumulative investment of over ₹65,000 crore.
The review focused on ensuring clear timelines, effective inter-agency coordination, and prompt resolution of challenges. Prime Minister Modi stressed that delays in execution impose a double cost — escalation of project expenditure and denial of timely services to citizens.
He urged Central and State officials to adopt a result-oriented approach, translating opportunities into improved quality of life, while furthering the objectives of ease of living for citizens and ease of doing business for enterprises.
The Prime Minister also called upon States and Union Territories to institutionalize mechanisms for regular review and monitoring of flagship projects. He emphasized reforms to improve competitiveness, strengthen efficiency, and foster innovation across sectors, highlighting the importance of preparedness to seize emerging opportunities.
