India Post Payments Bank and EPFO Join Hands to Offer Free Doorstep Digital Life Certificate Services for Pensioners

New Delhi, November 3, 2025: In a significant step toward expanding citizen-centric digital services, the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) and the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate doorstep submission of Digital Life Certificates (DLCs) for pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995.

The MoU was exchanged between Shri R. Viswesvaran, Managing Director and CEO of IPPB, and Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi, Central Provident Fund Commissioner, EPFO, during the 73rd Foundation Day celebrations of the organisation. The event was graced by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, as Chief Guest, along with Ms. Vandana Gurnani, Secretary (Labour & Employment), senior officials, and members of the Central Board of Trustees.

The collaboration is poised to bring a fundamental shift in pension service delivery by enabling senior citizens—particularly those in rural and remote areas—to complete their annual life certificate verification from the comfort of their homes. This service, powered by digital face and fingerprint authentication, will be delivered through IPPB’s vast postal network of over 1.65 lakh Post Offices and 3 lakh postal service providers, including postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks, equipped with biometric devices.

Importantly, EPFO will bear the entire cost of the service, making the process completely free for all pensioners. This move aligns with the government’s vision of Digital India and Ease of Living, ensuring that no beneficiary is left behind in accessing essential financial entitlements.

“This partnership with EPFO reinforces our mission to bring essential financial and citizen services to every doorstep in India,” said Shri R. Viswesvaran. “With our technology-enabled postal network and trusted last-mile reach, pensioners—especially in rural and semi-urban areas—can now complete their life certificate submission seamlessly, with dignity and convenience.”

Bringing Digital Inclusion to Every Doorstep

India Post Payments Bank first introduced its doorstep Jeevan Pramaan service in 2020, leveraging Aadhaar-enabled biometric authentication to simplify pension verification. Under the new collaboration, this system has been expanded and enhanced through Face Authentication technology—a paperless, secure, and user-friendly approach.

To avail the service, pensioners simply need to contact their nearest post office or local postman/Gramin Dak Sevak, share their Aadhaar and pension details, and authenticate the process using their linked biometric or facial credentials. Once verified, they will receive a confirmation SMS, and their Digital Life Certificate will be available for download the next day at jeevanpramaan.gov.in.
