Port Blair Nov 7: A walk through nature, a journey into history — adventure seekers in the Andamans are in for a treat this month as Mt. Manipur gears up to host the Island Trekking Festival 2025 on November 15, blending eco-adventure with heritage exploration.
The Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the Department of Environment & Forests and MY Bharat, will organize the Island Trekking Festival 2025 at Mt. Manipur, one of South Andaman’s most picturesque and historically significant trails. The event will be held on November 15 from 7 AM to 9 AM.
Aimed at promoting eco-adventure tourism and sustainable livelihoods, the festival encourages local youth to explore opportunities in eco-guiding and adventure tourism. It also seeks to build awareness about the Islands’ biodiversity, scenic beauty, and cultural heritage.
Participation is limited to 30 trekkers, including local youth, adventure enthusiasts, tour operators, and visiting tourists. The first 30 registered participants will be confirmed for the trek, and all participants will receive certificates from the Department of Tourism.
A bus will operate from Bambooflat Bus Terminus to the Forest Gate at Mt. Manipur, with light refreshments provided on-site. The trek will be guided by officials from the Forest Department, who will share insights on the area’s flora, fauna, and ecology. Comprehensive safety and first-aid support, coordinated with the Health Department, will also be available throughout the event.
