Echoes of Freedom: A&N to join the nation in mass singing of ‘Vande Mataram’

Port Blair Nov 6: The immortal anthem that once stirred a nation’s soul will resonate once again tomorrow, as the Andaman & Nicobar Islands join the country in celebrating 150 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’. The Directorate of Art & Culture, A&N Administration, will organize a mass singing of the full version of ‘Vande Mataram’ at 9:50 AM in the auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE) on Nov 7.

Approved by the Union Cabinet on October 1, the nationwide celebration seeks to rekindle that same revolutionary spirit among citizens, especially youth and students, and to ensure the anthem’s legacy continues to inspire generations to come.

Ms. Chanchal Yadav, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Art & Culture), A&N Administration, will grace the occasion as the chief guest. The event forms part of a year-long nationwide commemoration launched by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, to honour the legacy of the patriotic hymn that became the heartbeat of India’s freedom struggle.

‘Vande Mataram’ is more than a song—it is a timeless invocation of the motherland and a symbol of national unity. Its words inspired countless freedom fighters, igniting the spirit of resistance and pride across the nation.

All citizens have been invited to take part in this historic moment of collective pride and remembrance—when the chant of “Vande Mataram” will once again echo as a tribute to India’s enduring unity and freedom.
