Port Blair Nov 2: The groundwork for free and fair elections has begun at the doorstep. A special island-wide voter verification campaign is now underway to ensure every eligible citizen’s name finds its rightful place on the electoral rolls — and no ineligible entry slips through.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls has commenced across all districts of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, marking a crucial phase in updating and verifying voter records through fresh enumeration.
From November 4 to December 4, 2025, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house visits, distributing pre-printed enumeration forms in duplicate. Electors are required to fill in their details, paste a recent passport-size colour photograph, and sign the form. BLOs will assist residents during the process and revisit households to collect the completed forms.
Importantly, no supporting documents will be collected during this phase — the focus is solely on accurate enumeration.
Appealing for full cooperation from the public, L. Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, emphasized that the revision exercise is vital to maintain an accurate, error-free, and inclusive electoral roll, in keeping with the Election Commission’s motto: “No eligible voter to be left out, and no ineligible person included.”
The ongoing revision drive underscores the Election Commission’s commitment to strengthening democracy from the grassroots — one verified voter at a time.
