Ghaziabad, October 8, 2025: The 93rd anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was celebrated with grandeur and pride at Air Force Station Hindan, Ghaziabad, on Wednesday. The event was graced by the Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff, and Chief of the Naval Staff. The ceremonial parade was reviewed by Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Chief of the Air Staff.
Former Air Chiefs and senior IAF officers attended the celebration, marking a historic moment in the Air Force’s proud journey. The proceedings began with the marching-in of the President’s Colours, symbolising unity, strength, and pride. The Chief of the Air Staff was given an aerial salute by three Mi-17 1V helicopters in the ‘Dhwaj’ formation, trooping the National Flag, IAF Flag, and Op Sindoor Flag.
The ceremonial parade, commanded by Group Captain Chetan Pradeep Deshpande, was accompanied by the Air Force Band’s patriotic tunes and precision march pasts by Air Warriors. The Air Warrior Drill Team impressed the audience with their synchronised movements. A total of 97 medals and six Unit Citations were awarded to Air Warriors for exceptional service.
Addressing the gathering, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh highlighted the IAF’s journey from modest beginnings to becoming the fourth largest Air Force in the world. He praised the force’s role in Operation Sindoor, calling it a testament to India’s aerial prowess and commitment to national security. Emphasizing innovation, he reaffirmed the IAF’s philosophy of “Train like we fight.”
The event also featured an Innovation Arena, showcasing indigenous solutions developed by Air Warriors, along with a special display chronicling the IAF’s year of triumphs and challenges.
A spectacular aerial display by the Heritage Flight was a highlight of the celebrations, featuring vintage aircraft such as the Tiger Moth, HT-2, and Harvard. The display paid homage to the IAF’s glorious legacy. The traditional flypast and aerial show will be held in Guwahati on November 9, 2025.
The static display included advanced aircraft and systems like the C-17 Globemaster, Su-30 MKI, Rafale, Apache, MiG-29, MiG-21 Bison, C-130J Super Hercules, ALH MK-III, and Akash Missile System.
