Car Nicobar, Sept. 25: For the students of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Malaca, Thursday’s assembly was unlike any other. Instead of routine announcements, they had a rare chance to interact with the Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, who arrived with an inspiring message—“Stay safe, stay smart, and dream big.”
The SP’s visit combined career counselling with crucial life lessons on cyber safety, child protection and drug abuse awareness. Joined by the school faculty and the Station House Officer of Car Nicobar, the officer urged students to focus on their ambitions and make the most of opportunities available to them.
Highlighting the wide range of government schemes, scholarships, sports careers, and skill development programmes, the SP encouraged students to explore diverse pathways to success. “Your dreams matter, and there are resources to help you achieve them,” he assured, pledging the police department’s support in empowering youth across the district.
A dedicated session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act emphasized the importance of child safety, timely reporting of abuse and community responsibility in protecting minors. The conversation then shifted to drug abuse prevention, underlining the shared role of families, schools and communities in guiding youngsters away from harmful habits.
Cybercrime, a growing threat in students’ lives, received special attention. The SP cautioned against online scams, cyberbullying and unsafe sharing of personal information, urging students to adopt secure digital practices and be mindful of how they use social media.
Participants were also encouraged to be proactive in reporting suspicious activities or crimes through helpline numbers 112 / 03192-265223 / 9531856152, with assurances of strict confidentiality and rewards for informants.
The session left students not just informed but also empowered—reminding them that law enforcement isn’t only about policing streets, but also about safeguarding futures.
