Port Blair Nov 22: In a bid to rebuild fading community ties and promote a culture of mutual respect, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Andaman has rolled out a 10-day campaign aimed at strengthening neighbourly relationships—an essential pillar of peaceful, resilient societies.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Andaman formally launched the nationwide initiative, “Campaign for the Rights of Neighbours,” on 21st November 2025 at the MIM Auditorium, Wimberly Gunj. The Island-wide campaign, aligned with the national call issued by JIH National President Syed Sadatullah Husaini, will run from 21st to 30th November under the theme “Ideal Neighbourhood, Ideal Society.”
The campaign’s core objective is to restore warmth, empathy and collective responsibility among residents—values that once defined close-knit communities but have weakened in the face of modern isolation and fast-paced lifestyles. JIH leaders stressed that strong neighbourhood relations are not only socially desirable but also integral to building safer, more harmonious localities.
Presiding over the launch event, JIH Andaman President MK Mohammed highlighted that neighbourly rights hold deep importance in Islamic teachings and are universal values that transcend religious and social lines. He said the initiative seeks to revive practices that foster goodwill, cooperation and trust among households across the Islands.
Speakers at the ceremony pointed out that increasing urbanisation often leads to reduced interaction, misunderstanding and social disconnect. The campaign aims to counter this trend by encouraging Islanders to engage more openly, communicate with care and uphold a sense of shared responsibility within their neighbourhoods.
During the 10-day drive, JIH members will conduct outreach by visiting neighbours to promote friendly interaction, strengthen bonds and encourage conflict-free coexistence. The organisation has appealed to residents from all communities to participate and help rebuild an environment where neighbours support one another and contribute positively to the well-being of their localities.
