Detour ahead: Temporary closure near School Line for upgradation work

Port Blair Oct 30: Commuters in the School Line area are advised to brace for a brief detour, as the District Administration, South Andaman, has announced a temporary closure of the main road leading to Chanakya Tuition Centre from October 31 to November 7, 2025, to facilitate vital road construction work.

In an official notification issued under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the District Magistrate, South Andaman, has ordered the week-long closure to ensure the smooth and safe execution of the construction project.

During this period, all vehicles will be diverted from Chanakya Tuition Centre towards Ranchi Basti (Little Angel Clinic). The diversion aims to minimize traffic congestion and safeguard both commuters and construction workers while the upgrade work is underway.

The Administration has appealed to residents, students, and daily commuters to cooperate with the temporary traffic arrangements and plan their routes accordingly. The short inconvenience, officials said, will pave the way for a smoother, safer, and better-connected stretch once the project is completed.

With the road improvement work aligning with ongoing efforts to enhance public infrastructure and commuting safety, the Administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring minimal disruption and timely completion of the project.
