A timely tip-off, a swift strike — and one more blow to the Island’s drug trade

Rangat Nov 6: In a well-coordinated operation acting on precise intelligence, the Rangat Police foiled an illegal drug trafficking attempt in Dashratpur, reaffirming their resolve to keep narcotics off the streets of North & Middle Andaman.

The operation, led by Chandan G.S, SDPO Rangat, saw a quick and strategic response from Police Station Rangat. Acting on a credible tip-off, a raiding team headed by Inspector Mohd. Sameer, SHO, PS Rangat, and supported by SI Abdul Sajeed and a team of police personnel, immediately swung into action.

Upon reaching the target location, officers noticed a man behaving suspiciously as he attempted to conceal a bag. The team swiftly intercepted him, and a search revealed around one kilogram of illicit ganja. The accused, upon questioning, confessed to his involvement and was promptly arrested.

A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered at PS Rangat, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and potential links of the contraband.

The North & Middle Andaman District Police reiterated their unwavering commitment to building a drug-free society through rapid action, strict enforcement, and active public participation.
