Beyond Blue Skies: ISRO inspires Island students to dream of Life in Space

Port Blair, Oct. 15: As the world looks beyond the Earth’s horizon, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is inspiring young minds to imagine what life could be like among the stars. To mark World Space Week 2025, ISRO’s Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC), in collaboration with the Directorate of Education, A&N Administration, hosted a vibrant celebration at Govt. Senior Secondary School, Wimberlygunj, centered on this year’s global theme — “Living in Space.”

Delivering the keynote address, T. Subramanya Ganesh, of the Navigation Systems Area, ISTRAC, urged students to look at space not just as a frontier of exploration but as a potential new home for humanity. He spoke on the need for sustainable space missions and the growing global interest in human habitation beyond Earth.

The event came alive with a Science Craft Model Exhibition, where over 250 students and teachers showcased innovative models on spacecraft design, satellite launchers, and life-support systems for space living. Visitors also witnessed visual displays of Chandrayaan-3’s landing, Gaganyaan’s human spaceflight preparations, and other ISRO milestones that are taking India closer to deep-space exploration.
