India Reaffirms Commitment to Paris Agreement and Dialogue-Based Climate Action at Pre-CoP30 Meeting in Brasilia

Brasilia / New Delhi, October 14, 2025: At the Pre-CoP30 Meetings held in Brasilia, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shri Bhupender Yadav reiterated India’s steadfast commitment to the Paris Agreement and called for a balanced and dialogue-driven approach to global climate action.

Addressing the Global Stocktake (GST) breakout session on October 13, the Minister acknowledged the successful conclusion of the first GST, calling it a significant affirmation that the Paris Agreement architecture is being implemented in earnest.

The Global Stocktake is a five-year process that evaluates global progress toward achieving the objectives of the Paris Agreement. Shri Yadav noted that the GST serves three vital purposes — to evaluate collective progress, identify existing gaps, and guide enhanced domestic and global actions.

He described the GST as the driving force of the Paris Agreement, helping to foster political momentum and sustained cooperation among nations. The Minister emphasized that a focus on inclusive and transparent dialogue would strengthen both international collaboration and national-level climate strategies.

For future GST processes, Shri Yadav underscored the need for scientific assessments to be rigorous, accurate, and globally relevant, cautioning against hastily integrating studies without adequate consensus.

“We must now focus on implementing ambitious climate measures and, above all, addressing the urgent lack of resources for developing countries to deliver adaptation and mitigation,” said Shri Yadav.
“Dialogue is important, but action is imperative. he said
