Special revision drive begins to ensure accurate voter rolls

Port Blair Oct 28: A meeting with representatives of recognized political parties was held under the chairmanship of Shri Arjun Sharma, District Election Officer (South Andaman), on 28th October 2025 at the Mini Conference Hall of Secretaries to brief them on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll.

During the meeting, the District Election Officer explained the purpose, process, and schedule of the SIR, emphasizing transparency and inclusivity in the revision process. The detailed schedule begins with preparation, training, and printing from 28th October to 3rd November 2025, followed by the enumeration period from 4th November to 4th December 2025. The draft electoral roll will be published on 9th December 2025, after which claims and objections can be filed until 8th January 2026. The final publication of the Electoral Roll is scheduled for 7th February 2026.

During the revision, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will play a crucial role in collecting Form 6 and the Declaration Form for new electors, helping citizens fill in and submit the Enumeration Form (EF), and conduct at least three house visits to ensure accuracy. They will also assist in the online submission of EF forms, particularly for urban voters and temporary residents, and identify deceased, shifted, or duplicate voters to maintain a clean roll.

Electors can hand over their filled Enumeration Forms to their respective BLOs or submit them online through the Election Commission’s portal at https://voters.eci.gov.in. The guiding principle of the SIR, as reiterated by the District Election Officer, is to ensure that every eligible citizen is enrolled and every ineligible entry removed, thereby upholding the integrity of the electoral process.

The meeting was attended by representatives of recognized political parties who assured their cooperation in the smooth conduct of the SIR. The District Election Officer also sought the active participation of the general public to make the revision drive a success.
