Kadamtala Police Solve Theft Case, Arrest Accused; Gold Worth ₹19.56 Lakh Recovered

Kadamtala, January 20: Kadamtala Police have registered a major breakthrough in a theft case with the arrest of an accused and the recovery of stolen gold ornaments, cash, and household items following a focused and sustained investigation.

According to police sources, the case relates to a theft reported on January 5, 2026, involving the loss of gold jewellery, cash, and household articles from a residence at Shantanu village under the jurisdiction of Kadamtala Police Station. Acting on the complaint, FIR No. 01/26 dated January 5, 2026, was registered, and investigation was initiated without delay.

A special police team was constituted under the leadership of Shain Nair, Sub-Inspector and Station House Officer, Police Station Kadamtala. The team comprised S. Sudharsanan, HC IRBn/153 D. Bhattachariya, PC/2369 S. Karthy, PC/652 Shankar Ram, PC/2562 V. Abednigo, PC/2650 Praveen Kumar, PC/509 Sudeep Kumar, and Ct/021239 Sanjay Mondal.

Police stated that the team conducted the investigation in a systematic and professional manner, making use of technical tools and actionable intelligence to track the suspect. Sustained interrogation eventually established the involvement of the accused in the theft.

On January 18, 2026, the accused was arrested, leading to the recovery of stolen gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹19,56,409, cash amounting to ₹46,500, and one LPG cylinder. The stolen items had been concealed at different locations to avoid detection.

The accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court at Mayabunder and has been remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation in the case is currently underway.

The investigation is being carried out under the close supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Rangat, and the overall supervision of Shweta K. Sugathan, Superintendent of Police, North and Middle Andaman District.
