Port Blair Nov 8: With the tourist season at its peak, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are once again proving why they remain one of India’s most captivating destinations — a paradise where history, heritage, and natural beauty blend seamlessly. From pristine beaches to poignant reminders of the nation’s past, the Islands are drawing an ever-growing number of visitors eager to explore their treasures.
At the heart of this surge lies the National Memorial Cellular Jail, where the Sound & Light Show continues to move audiences with its powerful retelling of India’s freedom struggle. Responding to the overwhelming demand, the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T) has introduced an additional Hindi show, now held from 8.50 PM to 9.30 PM, alongside the existing evening shows. With this, four shows will now be presented daily, ensuring more visitors can experience this historic narrative in comfort.
To make the experience seamless, tourists can now book tickets online through the official tourism portal — andamantourism.gov.in — avoiding long queues and ensuring smooth access. The Directorate is also planning to reschedule show timings slightly earlier, starting from 5.30 PM, to better manage visitor flow during peak hours.
The move has been widely welcomed by visitors and stakeholders alike, who see it as a reflection of the Administration’s commitment to enhancing the visitor experience and tapping the tremendous tourism potential of the Islands. Beyond the beaches and corals, the Andamans are steadily emerging as a heritage and cultural destination, where every initiative — big or small — contributes to a richer, more memorable journey for travelers.
With thoughtful steps like these, the Administration is not only easing the tourist rush but also setting the stage for sustainable, experience-driven tourism — one that celebrates both the natural beauty and historical soul of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
