Port Blair, Oct. 15: In a major stride toward creating new livelihoods and boosting youth employment, the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, in collaboration with the Labour Department, A&N Administration and the Regional EPFO Office here, organized a sensitization programme on the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) at Sri Vijaya Puram.
The flagship ₹1 lakh crore employment scheme, launched to generate over 3.5 crore jobs nationwide between August 2025 and July 2027, seeks to empower both first-time job seekers and employers through direct financial incentives.
Addressing over 30 prospective employers, the Assistant Labour Commissioner, highlighted the growing participation of local employers, noting that more than 100 registrations have already been made from the Islands on the PM-VBRY portal. Regional EPF Commissioner, elaborated on the scheme’s objectives and its potential to strengthen the organized workforce.
The Deputy Secretary (Labour), urged employers to actively engage with the scheme, calling it a “transformative initiative” aligned with Viksit Bharat @ 2047. He emphasized that the scheme not only incentivizes hiring but also promotes sustainable job growth across sectors.
Under PM-VBRY, eligible employees earning up to ₹1 lakh per month will receive up to ₹15,000 in Direct Benefit Transfers, while employers can earn monthly incentives of ₹1,000–₹3,000 per new hire for up to four years.
